Turquoise Red and Pink!!

Yesterday, we got to do a great wedding at Devils Thumb. First of all, Emily and Keith are two of the sweetest people we have ever met AND they drove through the blizzard of the season to get to Colorado for their wedding.
1950's-Cowboy-Kitsch-with-a-hipster-edge could have been a theme for this one. Everything was turquoise, red and pink. The table numbers were hand made by the groom, cardboard chargers under each place setting, menus rolled with twine and Emily's grandmothers typewriter was used instead of a guest book so everyone could type letters to this couple. Best part, half of us couldnt remember how to use a typewriter!!!
Personal favorite part of this one - the groom and groomsmen all had corresponding colored vans on. Thank you both for having FUN and enjoying your day.

Happy Spring

It is the first day of spring and we are feeling it here in Winter Park. Rami and I have been working away, planning and designing, gearing up for the summer wedding season. We have managed to squeeze in a few great events, a few days of fun and a few site tours.

We had two incredibly different events at Devils Thumb Ranch in the last few weeks. First, an absolutely fantastic couple from Louisiana had a Mardi Gras Monday wedding. Using mardi gras colors in golds, green and purples, Rami designed tablescapes that were out of this world. Gold candles lit up the Broad Axe Barn. My favorite part, instead of bouquets, the girls all had masks. Once we get the photos from the delightful Sean Boggs of Vail, we will be sharing!

While Rami was working on the Mardi Gras event, I got to work with Jen at Devils Thumb and design a birthday weekend that was . . . well . . . I am pretty darn proud of it. There was a 12 piece marumba band for a dinner of 27 people. There were yoga lessons, cross country ski lesssons, fantastic dinners, signature drinks (yes, it' called a Westini and it was the PERFECT shade of royal blue) and a really big wreath. Wes didnt overlook a thing and the entire 3 day event was a blast. The weekend was shot by Rachel Terry of Stellar Photography and I promise I will share the pictures soon!!

This office has been buzzing with activity all day! We had lunch with Helena Powell of Adventures in Whitewater. If you are looking for a great half or full day Colorado adventure for your guests, take them to the river!! We also recommend this as a great activity for bachelor and bachelorette partiews. And what I adore about this company (aside from the fact that I laugh the entire time I am with Helena) is that you can make all of the reservations ON LINE! The bride and groom dont even have to do anything other than show up!! Simple, fun and easy, my friends, simple, fun and easy.

Once I sat back down after lunch, John Vela from Ear to Ear Photobooths showed up to say hi. This is all the rage right now. Have your own photobooth customized for your wedding (the borders of the pictures can be done with your names, wedding colors, monikers, etc) and let the silliness begin. What I love about this company (aside from the fact that John and Jeff are super sweet) is that the booth is made from beetle kill pine AND there is a video screen outside of the booth so the crowd watching can see what's going on! This has been a HUGE hit at the weddings we done together. And your photo album, let's just say I am sure you will look at it again and again. Check out their website and look at the pictures from Kegs and Eggs at Lodo's. FUN!!!

Last week, we had a lovely day doing site tours in Breckenridge with Cat. Thank you again for a beautiful day of skiing and brainstorming. Ten Mile Station and Sevens were beautiful and we cant wait to come back and see the Maggie. We are looking forward to doing some events with you.

And this morning, I went to C Lazy U Ranch outside of Granby to scout out a venue for a client for early 2010. The ranch is now open year round, they are opening a spa AND they have cat skiing. Who knew? And the best part? All inclusive dude ranch vacations for your guests for a custom made Colorado wedding. I am so excited to begin designing events there!

I hope you are all enjoying spring as much as we are! The snow is melting fast BUT the good part of that is that the biking and hiking trails will be open soon!!!

Devils Thumb Ranch Weddings

This is getting rather fun for me. Two more fun weddings at Devils Thumb Ranch in this post (I swear, we do weddings other places, I swear!!).

The wedding above was an international affair with the bride and groom flying in from Germany for their event. Every detail was perfect, rich red flowers, deep chocolate brown linens and crystals on willow mixed with orchids for tall table decor. The cakes were beautiful. Our bride and groom even went as far as creating an old-fashioned photo corner - with costumes.

The wedding below was designed off of jewel toned wildflowers and antique mason jars. Our thanks to Jenna and Katie at JennaWalkerPhotography for these images and to the lady in Texas who never threw a single glass jar away. . .ever . . .

In case you are interested, yes, we still have the jars.

White Wedding at Devils Thumb

I love photographers. I really do. And Peter Holcombe of Holcombe Photography is one of the best!!! He made this collage for the blog (I am still learning how to use photoshop. . .I am no expert yet)

We (Peter, Kathy and I ) worked on this intimate late September wedding at Devils Thumb Ranch and had a blast. Anytime you have an 8 piece band for a reception that has 27 people, cocktails in the wine cellar AND a wagon ride you know the party will be GREAT.

Building off an all white theme, we used hundreds of off white roses and dendrobium orchids. This wedding was a joy to work on. . .can we have a one year anniversary party???

Sunflowers at Snow Mountain Ranch!

The most incredible sunflowers I have ever seen are in July and August. This wedding (July last summer at Snow Mountain Ranch) was built around the sunflower idea.
I loved the addition of artichokes! Something Fun, Something Different.
many many many thanks to Miss Rachel Terry of Stellar Photography.
